Gabriel Cota
Head Coach
Coach Cota enters his 7th year as the Vaquero Head Coach. Beyond baseball, he also serves as a special education teacher, department chair, and co-athletic director at Irvine High School. Proudly, he's an alumnus of Irvine High and played baseball at Orange Coast College before heading to UC Santa Barbara. Off the field, Coach Cota enjoys spending quality time with his family: wife Maria, daughter Daisy, and son Ezra. This season, his focus is on supporting the seniors as they showcase their skills and have a rewarding year.
Austin Tyrovolas
Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Tyro joins the varsity team full time this season after previously heading the Freshman team. An Irvine High alumnus and current instructional assistant, he's dedicated to both academics and athletics. Outside of coaching, he enjoys sports and spending time with friends and family. He's excited to help the players build on their hard work and achieve a successful season.
Eddie Trgovac
Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach T returns as a Varsity assistant coach. Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, he dominated the wrestling scene at Austintown Finch High School, clinching league titles for three years straight and remaining undefeated his junior year. When not coaching, he enjoys outdoor activities like fishing, golfing, and shooting, and cherishes time with his grandkids. This season, his sights are set on a league championship and guiding players to reach their full potential.
David Cota
Varsity Assistant Coach
Irvine High alum and current counselor, Coach Cota, continues his role as an assistant varsity coach. He is a recent newlywed and enjoys spending time with his wife Morgan. This season, his sights are set on a league title and making a playoff run.
Boomer Hoang-Tieu
JV Head Coach
Coach Boomer returns for his second season as the JV coach at Irvine High, where he also serves as a student math teacher. A proud alumnus and UC Riverside graduate, he's now pursuing his master's at UC Irvine. This season, Coach Boomer aims to build on his first year's experience, leading the team to a winning season and instilling a strong passion for the game in his players.
Bryan Wilhelm
Freshman Head Coach
Recent Irvine High grad (2022), Coach Ham joins the program as the Freshman coach. He is an avid bowler in his spare time. This season he is looking forward to watching these young men compete and improve throughout the season.
