  • CIF QUARTERFINAL WINNERS!! Irvine Varsity Vaqueros defeat Cathedral 2-1 and are headed to the CIF SEMIFINALS for the first time since 1993!! LET’S GO!! The Vaqueros got on the board early in the 1st inning when Smith Spivey doubled to bring home a run. Owen Song followed with a huge RBI single to right field after an intense 8-pitch at bat. Roshan Patel was dominant on the mound, recording 15 outs and earning the win for Irvine. Jason Alderson shut the door with an incredible save performance to secure the victory. Owen Song and Ethan Kim each collected 2 hits for the Vaqueros, while Owen Song and Smith Spivey continued to be a dangerous duo in the lineup, each driving in a run. And the defense? PERFECT.
